The Three Little Kittens
Tři malá koťátka – Three Little Kittens
Jedná se o dětskou říkanku. Stejně jako většina takovýchto říkanek je i tato anonymní. Vznikla někdy před rokem 1858, když R. M. Ballantyne napsal pojednání s titulem The Three Little Kittens, které bylo publikováno jako část Good Little Pig's Library. Pozdější verze příběhy byla vydána Spojenými státy pod titulem Little Golden Books.

Výklad
V hlubším významu těchto příběhů je uložen jakýsi varovný příběh umocňující vztah mezi rodičmi a dětmi, které ztratili a znovu objevili své věci. V říkance je spousta zvukomalebných slov, které nám připomínají mňoukání. Výpověď kočičí maminky, že cítí krysu vyvolává v básni tradiční ustálené dvojsmyslné spojení: koťátka byla odměněna za to, že nejprve ztratila, ale pak znovu našla své rukavice.
